My original training was in mental health nursing, where I had experience of working with people from a variety of backgrounds with varied mental health difficulties. This gave me an invaluable insight into the impact of mental health problems on both the individual and their families.

10 years ago I trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This training increased my awareness of the impact that the past can have on the present and how our relationships and experiences during childhood influence our beliefs about ourselves, others and the world as adults.

In 1999 I underwent further training in integrative psychotherapy, developing a greater understanding of the importance of the working relationship developed between therapist and client. Through this training I achieved an MSc in integrative psychotherapy and became registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I have completed a post graduate certificate in online counselling.

I have worked as a therapist within the NHS for 10 years. I also work in private practice.

I have a special interest in, and lots of experience of, working with deaf clients and am fluent in British Sign Language.
